Several independent media, print, broadcast and radio, have been expressing our indignant protest against the shameful and disgraceful campaign broadcast during games World Cup. The millionaire propaganda at public expense, to accuse us seriously offended, as a generic and irresponsible, of "lying" to be "arrogant" and "thieves."
In recent days, several media addressed to the Secretary of Communication ordering him to that stipulates what are the means which are directed false and unfounded accusations. Today, those who signed this document, we urge strongly that request and we affirm our unity in this campaign, we consider an attack on freedom of expression for all Ecuadorians, and an abuse of power.

However, the Government has decided to take on the opposite bank, spreading slanderous messages, the logical consequence is to continue promoting disunity and stigmatization of those who are not subject to the interests of power.
While public officials are entitled to freedom of expression, above all things have a duty to protect that right that belongs to citizens and, as such, can not impute crimes without reporting them to the judicial authority, and not create a risk to a person or a group of people, as this Government has been doing to polarize society and face.
Some assembly filed a legal action to try to stop this nonsense, which was rejected by a judge diligently, with the support of the Office, which should fulfill its role as counsel for the State and not the Government. It is worth remembering that in accordance with the Constitution, every public official is personally liable for the consequences of their actions in exercising its powers and the misuse of public funds.
This attack from the Executive is given at a time when the legislature is preparing to try an Organic Law of communication that does not respect the agreement reached last December and deviating from the precepts and agreements on rights and freedoms. Given this fact, and the lack of independence of the judiciary, we find that free speech still under attack in Ecuador, impairing its prestige in the international arena.
