I share this reflection result of the experience I had this semester in my course, which evaluated community partners with a note to students, with a weighting of 5% the note.
"We sadly called attention to the lack of commitment and awareness of students
. To show as little interest in [our foundation] and
our children, we not only encourage but also valued the opportunity to
be a real contribution to improving our society. "
This is the comment that got one of the community members, criticizing the lack of student engagement, which meant that the final work was not given a real contribution to the organization. The main criticisms were aimed at the few meetings held with community partner, not having understood the need I had the organization, not having a share in the various stages of the project, which led to the planning of volunteer students came not respond to what the organization needed.
Without going into details of what went wrong (if it was a lack of student interest in the organization's limited experience in working with students or in the planning of the course), the result is interesting. The work that the student group handed, scored on 4.0, since from the standpoint of the curricular aspects of the course, deserved to be approved. However, note that the community partner was put under 2.5, based on a subjective grade averaged a score obtained from a table of observations with a score (in order to reduce subjectivity). The interesting thing is that community members evaluated the process in the field, and satisfaction with the product developed "with" students.

this regard me two questions arise: Is it legitimate to evaluate the community partner with a note on the final weight of the industry? Could increase the weight of the note by the community partner from 5% to 15%?
