UC Service Learning is growing and we must make many decisions to generate an appropriate strategy to spread the methodology allows the UC.
To make those decisions is important to foundations that provide a choice between options:
Do we prefer to have more courses to implement A + S or for those undertaking are of better quality?
to grow, is it more appropriate to better equip teachers to implement with less support or get more consultants to further support teachers?
These are some of the questions we try to respond. Some research
made in the United States samples of more than 400 universities on the institutionalization of service learning show results regarding the obstacles that exist to extend A & S Can we rely on what they have done to make better choices?
For example:
86% of institutions surveyed believe that lack of time for teachers is the most significant obstacle preventing spread the Learning Service. This factor is still a lack of funding for A + S experiences with 62% and then the lack of understanding of this methodology in the university with 58%.
However, choosing to base our actions on the data can lead us to ignore political and institutional conditions that limit our actions. Whereas
is our strategic planning process, we welcome all comments to help us make better decisions.
